The 2022 Ram 1500 has three engines on offer. The standard powerplant is a 3.6-liter V6 that generates 305 horses and 269 lb-ft of torque. An available 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 puts out 260 hp and 480 lb-ft. There’s also a 5.7-liter V8 good for 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The optional Level 1 Equipment Group features a power-sliding rear window and satellite radio. The Level 1 Safety Group comes with forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, collision warning and lane keep assist. Rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring are also available. The Tradesman trim with four-wheel drive is eligible for the Off-Road Group, which adds a locking rear differential, tow hooks, skid plates and hill descent control.

According to the Niles Ram dealership, there are a few notable changes for 2022. The Ram 1500 gets a new available G/T package that adds performance and tech features to the Laramie and Rebel trim levels. The Big Horn and Lone Star models have a new off-road BackCountry Edition. The Limited trim’s 10th Anniversary Edition brings even more luxury to the model, as well as unique interior and exterior badging and an optional Blue Shade exterior paint color.
Buyers can get the 2022 Ram 1500 in six trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn and Limited. Ram also manufactures a supercharged TRX version of the Ram 1500, and a variant called the Ram 1500, not covered in this article. Rear-wheel drive is standard across the lineup. The Ram 1500 is offered in Quad and Crew Cab configurations.
The base Ram 1500 Tradesman trim comes with 18-inch steel wheels, cloth or synthetic leather seating, push-button start, a 5-inch infotainment touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth and USB ports.
The 2022 Ram 1500 has an optional trailer hitch light that comes in handy at night. Part of the available Trailer Tow Group, these LED lights illuminate the area above the trailer hitch, allowing the driver to see the hitch in the dark when using the electronic trailer reverse steering control.
