Buyers who are looking for a midsize SUV that performs as well on the road as it does off-road should consider the 2019 Jeep Renegade. Most rivals can't beat the Renegade's combination of a luxurious interior, user-friendly technology features and incredible off-roading chops. And this small crossover is very economically priced, making it even more attractive for buyers at dealers like the South Bend Jeep dealership.
New for 2019, the Renegade gets an update with new features, refreshed styling and a new turbo-four engine. Styling changes include redesigned fascias, as well as restyled LED headlights and taillights. The instrument cluster gets some changes and the Renegade has some new wheel designs. According to the Jeep dealer in South Bend, there are some new exterior paint colors, too.
All told, there are many reasons to like the 2019 Jeep Renegade. The Renegade continues to pick up accolades from the automotive press, with Autotrader writing: "The 2019 Jeep Renegade is now one of many subcompact SUVs, but it was once a pioneer that helped spur this fast-growing segment. However, despite the increased competition, the smallest Jeep remains the most off-road capable, and arguably the most characterful of the group. From its many quirky design touches and unique My Sky removable roof panels to its Selec-Terrain traction settings and go-anywhere Trailhawk trim, the Renegade offers things its competitors do not."
The 2019 Jeep Renegade is offered in Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk trim levels. Front-wheel drive is standard on all trims except the Trailhawk, which gets standard all-wheel drive, while the other trims get optional all-wheel drive. The Renegade Sport and Latitude trims employ a standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horses and 175 lb-ft of torque, teamed to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The Limited and Trailhawk models are powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit that generates 177 hp and 200 lb-ft, also paired to the nine-speed automatic transmission. This engine is optional on the other trims.
The base Sport trim comes with standard features that include 16-inch wheels, a six-way adjustable driver's seat, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel, power windows and door locks, an AM/FM radio with a USB input and a rearview camera. The Latitude trim adds cruise control, air conditioning, and a 7-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment setup that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Depending on the model, options include leather seats, heated seats, adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, a nine-speaker Beats audio system and a navigation setup. Buyers can also choose dual-zone climate control rear park-assist, rain-sensing wipers and the My Sky removable-roof system. Renegade models equipped with four-wheel drive get a terrain-select system that comes with Snow, Sand and Mud settings. The Trailhawk adds a fourth setting: Rock.
When it comes to safety, the Jeep Cherokee has you covered. The IIHS awarded the 2019 Jeep Cherokee with its highest rating of Good in all crash tests, as well as the highest rating of Superior for front crash protection.
